Wonderful combination of strawberries and basil in this smoothie! I grow basil every year in the garden and never thought to put it in my shakes, I will have to give it a try. Chia seeds are awesome, love how they keep you fuller longer, keeps me from getting hangry 😉

Thank you so much, Erica! Fresh basil from the garden would be perfect for this recipe. And, I’m all about chia seeds! High protein and high fiber? Yes, please! That’s why chia seeds are so great at keeping you full longer. Definitely give this smoothie a try. Thanks again!

I love the mix of strawberries and basil. I can grow both out here and it would be nice to go outside and have a smoothie just a few minutes later. I never realized that chia seeds help to thicken smoothies, but what a great use, amongst all the other health benefits, of course!

Thank you so much, Alison! You can definitely use fresh strawberries in place of frozen ones in this recipe, if you’d like! Just add a small handful of ice too, so your smoothie will still have that icy consistency. You can also freeze fresh strawberries that you grow and use them in smoothies, as well (I did that once and it turned out great!) Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Basil! That is such a creative idea! I LOVE the smell of fresh basil when it has been freshly ripped from the stem! I will definitely need to try this out in the summer when my basil plants grow! (Yep, I have a brown thumb and killed everything indoors including my basil plant) ..and your doll is so CUTE haha! 🙂 I haven’t watched the movies but I’m always looking for ideas of things to watch! I will need to check this out!
Alyssa says
Totally agree, Joyce! The smell of basil is so enticing, especially since it has that hint of sweetness to it. You definitely need to check out the movie. It’s a ton of fun! Thank you so much for stopping by!
